PFN Files for Bankruptcy

Preferred Florist Network (PFN) filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy on Aug. 17, 2007 in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

New 'No-Match' Rule Effective Sept. 14

Employers have new rules for what to do if they receive a "no-match" letter from the Social Security Administration (SSA). The new regulation, or no-match rule, issued by the Department of Homeland Security, will take effect Sept. 14.

Growers Need to Be Alert for Whiteflies

It appears that 2007 is another challenging year for whitefly control. Growers in several parts of the U.S. have reported resistant whiteflies, and/or increased numbers of whiteflies.

Research Initiative Survives Appropriations

On Aug. 2, the House passed its version of the Agriculture Appropriations bill, which includes $6.25 million in funding, according to the USDA, for the Floriculture and Nursery Research Initiative -- the same amount the Initiative received in 2006.
